Children’s Track & Field

Athletics Auckland Children’s Track & Field

Athletics is a great sport for your child to be involved in.

They will learn fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping and throwing as well as make many new friends, learn about trying their best and build resilience by trying many different events.  Perhaps more importantly in this day of devices, they will be outside having fun and learning with their friends.

The athletics season runs from 1st October to 31 March each year with a calendar of events posted to this website including Club Ribbon Days, GO! Series which is a teams-based athletics series, and Athletics Auckland organised events at Mt Smart Stadium such as relay days and championship events.  Children’s Track & Field is for anyone aged  7 – 14 years (as at 31st December).

We have put together the following video as a taste of the type of events that your child could be involved in.

If your child is aged 14 or under and would like to become involved in athletics your first step is to find an athletics club near you.

Athletics Auckland GO! Series

The GO! Series is a teams based athletic series held over summer from November to March with 5 GO! Event days (usually 9am to midday on a Saturday morning).  It is open to children 5 years old to 14 years old and is a fast paced athletics event with your child having the opportunity to do a range of different activities to earn points for their club team.

If you are interested in your child being part of the GO! Series, join your local athletics club and entry information will be provided closer to the start of the series.  Join a club find an athletics club near you.
