Athletics Auckland has completed a further $34,000 investment in maintaining international quality equipment, for athletes to use, with the installation of new pole vault mats.
The “mats” are different in that 12 component foam blocks are enclosed in one cover bag; there is no need for a topper pad; there is no likelihood of falling between mats.
A great outcome for Auckland athletes.

We are still urgently seeking more volunteers to assist at the National Track & Field Champs from 5 - 8 March 2026 at Douglas Track, Trust Stadium, 65-67 Central Park Drive Henderson.
Below is a breakdown of the volunteers required to successfully run this event:
40 -50 Volunteers are required each day for a variety of roles – Volunteer for as many days as you like / can – one day or 4 days. Half days are also possible. Examples of roles – note all duties will be carefully explained on site:
• TIC – Technical Information Centre The information / admin area is called TIC and uses 2 volunteers here. Mostly they would be running information to or from this area to others such as results, and posting results on the actual results board (as opposed to the online one). However, there may be some admin jobs they can be involved in from time to time.
• Call room. This area requires around 10-12 volunteers per day. This is the area where the athletes come to be processed, prior to going out to the field of play. It is run by Officials but the volunteers would be with the Athletes who have to stay in isolation in their groups. The volunteer may be assigned to a specific Bay to remain with them. Or on some occasions escort someone to the toilet, or they may be asked to escort the group to their event and to collect any uniform or personal effects that they have with them and take to Post Event area.
• Officials Lounge. 2 volunteers would be useful in this area to aid with Hosting the Officials. This area overlooks the stadium so they would have a good view of events whilst not being actively involved in the events themselves. They may be shifted to another duty if the need arises or do another duty on another day if they wished. This is the area where morning and afternoon teas as well as lunch is served to all officials and volunteers, including themselves, but there are some officials who are not able to get a break away from their area so need to have food taken to them. This is an area that would suit someone who enjoys Hospitality.
• Technical Support. This area is responsible for getting all the appropriate equipment to the events in time for each event to start and sometimes requires changes within the day. They would be under the guidance of the Technical Officials. They would also support the setting up and taking down of the hurdles for each of those events which needs to be done in a timely fashion. Anyone who enjoys the more technical side of the sport might enjoy this. Approx. 3 people here.
• Ticket sales at main entrance gate.
• Field Events. This includes Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot Put, Javelin, Discus and Hammer. Each of these events would need around 3 volunteers. Approximately 21 volunteers are needed in this area. ... See MoreSee Less
