Events: 60m (Masters Men & Women), 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m Race Walk (U18), 10000m Race Walk (U20+), High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put and Discus.
All other events will be held as part of the McKinnon Shield meet on Saturday 11th January, Saturday 18th January or Saturday 1st March.

Masters Men Shot Put is now at 9.00am Saturday
Parking Restrictions Saturday 1st February:
Please note that parking will be restricted to the athletics carpark ONLY for this event. If that carpark is full, vehicles will need to be parked on O’rorke Rd. Beasley Ave and Maurice Rd will most likely be closed to traffic.
NO vehicles will be admitted to the athletics carpark after 1.00pm – please do not ask and please be respectful to the security personnel as they are only carrying out what they have been instructed.
Please follow instructions of all venue, security and traffic management staff.

Preview – The Auckland Centre grade 10-11yr Challenge Day is on again this season. The Challenge Day teams are created from the two cluster groups we have operating in the Auckland centre, CNW and Counties Manukau. (Outside centres can be invited to participate as well).
The competition will start mid morning and go through the day. At the completion of the competition there will be dinner for the athletes as well as a prize giving were the individual and team awards are presented to the athletes and teams.
The points for the competition are based on the 5 Star athletics scoring charts. All athletes receive a certificate at prize giving with their total points across their individual events determining which level of certificate they achieve.
The team awards are a based on a combined total of the individual awards for each team.
Who is this event for – This event is for any registered Grade 10/ 11yr athletes in the Auckland Centre. Note – the junior rules apply in that this event is for athletes who are aged 10/11yr on Dec 31st 2024.
Date of competition – Thursday 6th February 2025 (Waitangi Day).
Venue -Massey Park, Papakura
Events – Individual – 60m, 100m, 300m, 1500m, 200m hurdles, 1000m Walk, Shot-put, Discus, Long Jump and High Jump Relays – 4x100m, 1000m sprint medley.
The athletes will be able to enter 3 individual events. This can either be 2 track and 1 field event or 2 field events and 1 track event. Athletes will also be involved in 1 relay team.
Event Cost – $45 per athlete plus team competition tee shirt.
Team selection/training days – The teams will have a selection process and forms available for the athletes to complete and submit. Athletes will need to enter personnel best’s (PB) for each of their individual events on the entry forms. These PB’s can come from events such as the Colgate Games, Counties Manukau Junior Championship, Auckland Junior Championship, McKinnon Shield events or club nights. These events can be from last season or this season.
Note – the results are for event selection.
Athletes will need to be competing in athletic events during the season to help with their selection which will be before the Xmas holidays i.e. ribbon days, relay days or McKinnon Shield events.
There will be training days across November and December to assist the athletes in preparing for the event before the team selection. There will also be training days during and after the Xmas holidays and before the competition day. Notification of these training days are generally by email or Facebook posts.

Preview – New to the Auckland Centre this season is the grade 12-13yr Challenge Day competition. This season the competition will be held at Porrit Stadium in Hamilton and will also involve two teams from the Waikato & Bay of Plenty centre.
The Auckland Centre Challenge Day teams are created from the two cluster groups we have operating in the Auckland centre, CNW and Counties Manukau.
The competition is based on a similar format used for the grade 10-11yr Challenge day in that the competition will start mid-morning and go through the day. At the completion of the competition there will be dinner for the athletes as well as a prize giving were the individual and team awards are presented to the athletes and teams.

Those new to throwing, have not thrown for a while or have never thrown some of the implements, arrive at 10am for a quick coaching course.
Entry Fee: $10 (when you arrive) and a plate of finger food to share with others at completion of the day’s competition. Tea and coffee provided. Traditionally competition finishes about 1.30pm and then we socialise.
Prizegiving will follow the October event. To be eligible for a medal you need to have competed at least twice over the Series. For medals, those new to throwing or have not thrown for a while, will be graded as Novices. We award medals to both novice and experienced throwers.
RULES: NO records can be made or broken. NO mobile phones may be used during competition time. 1 warm up throw and 3 competition throws. Competitors are required to assist in officiating.
Experienced throwers please help those less experienced.
