Background Information and Selection Policy
Sections 4 and 7 are particularly relevant, especially as there is no automatic selection for Bathurst – This can be in the note under section7.2 d)
7.2. d) Note: The placing and performance standard must both be achieved relevant to the age group the athlete will be on 31 December 2023 during the Qualification Period.
4 Selection Considerations
4.1 For an athlete to be considered for selection in an individual event for the 2023 WAXCCs based on results during the Qualification Period, they must have achieved the following relevant Performance Standard:
Event and Performance Standard
Junior Men 32:00
Senior Women 34:30
Senior Men 29:45
4.3 Track performances must be achieved during competitions organised or authorised in conformity with rules set by WA, its Area Associations, or its Member Federations.
So, while this says 10km, Selection Considerations rule 4.3 confirms track events and therefore 10,000m is allowed as a qualifying distance. As the event is being put on by AAI, it will qualify and conform to WA and ANZ rules.
