Athletics New Zealand Coaching Information

Auckland Coaching Programme

1) Basic Athletics Skills

 For Junior Clubs, Primary, Intermediate & Secondary Schools. This is an Auckland Regional Athletics Coaching Programme, not aligned with any Athletics New Zealand qualification. Free to clubs. It is aimed at teaching parents & teachers basic skills over three groups of events. Summary notes are given which are suitable to make into cue cards. This programme involves 6 hours of activity per club or school - 2hours on each of the three groups - Track, Long/High Jump & Shot Put/Discus.

2) Teacher's Professional Development Courses

By arrangement and dependent on coach availability during school time. Coaches could deliver courses to teachers either for one school or a cluster. Contact Neil Bartlet on development@athleticsauckland.co.nz

3) Coaching provided at a Central Venue

Basic Athletics Coaching - Athletics Auckland can provide informal courses on any event group at Mt Smart.  If interested please contact the Coach Manager with the details on the event to be covered.  Also advise when you would like the course to take place and we will endeavour to deliver.

Athletics Auckland Aspire Development Academy

Track and Field - Mt Smart 8-10 October 2018

Registration open on the 27 August 2018:

This is the sixth year of the Athletics Auckland Aspire Development Academy. The three day academy will give athletes aged 12-18 years the opportunity to work with some very experienced coaches in their chosen discipline/s. Many of the athletes that have been through the Aspire Development Academy have gone on to represent Auckland, North Harbour and Counties Manukau at the following events:

 ·         Grade 12/13 Interprovincials

·         U16 & U18 Interprovincials

·         North Island Secondary Schools Athletics Championships

·         Athletics New Zealand Track and Field Championships

·         Athletics New Zealand Cross Country Championships

·         Athletics New Zealand Road Running Championships

 Dates: Monday 8 to Wednesday 10 October 2018

Venue: Mt Smart Stadium

Times: 9.30am to 3.00pm

Cost: TBA – includes coaching, singlets, handouts and guest speakers.
