James Trathen, national under 18 800m champion in 2023, produced two personal best times with a space of 40 minutes. First up over 1500m he reduced his best from 4:04.50 to 3:54.41 and in the 400m stormed home in 48.48, well under the 50.13 he clocked in the Auckland championships earlier this year. Blake Wood in second in 48.85 equalled his previous best.
Zachary Orbell broke his own New Zealand Para Athlete T35 100m record recording 13.25, eclipsing his time of 13.36 at the national championships in Dunedin.
