Auckland Road Championships, Bruce Pulman Park Papakura – 21 August 2022
Jamie Mora ran faster than the New Zealand U17 6km record of 18:52 in winning the U18 title. He won in 18:50, 1:15 ahead of clubmates James Trathen and Connor Jamieson.
In adding the road title to the Auckland U18 cross country title won in June, Mora, 16, was two seconds under the U17 record currently jointly held by Jacob Priddey and Zane Powell.
Jack Paine also made it a double for the season following up his cross country crown with the senior 10km road title in 31:51. Marek Schirnack was second in 31:58 and William Harris third. Former Canterbury runner Jason Hunt was fourth in a PB 32:40.
Simon Mace in finishing second overall in 31:55 PB in the combined senior and masters race broke the New Zealand masters 45-49 10km road record of 32:39 held by Daniel Clendon of Wellington.
Maiya Christini won the women’s 10km in 36:26, over two minutes ahead of Olivia Gold with a further two minutes to Emily Register.
Karen Donaldson-Barron headed in the master women over 5km in a PB 17:52. Amelia Green won the U20 5km in 18:10, the U18 5km went to Sophie Robb in 17:37, Imogen Barlow won the U16 4km in 13:57 and Leah Marais took out the U14 3km in 10:37.
Quinn Moss won the U16 4km in 13:18 from Ben Oxford 13:32 and Louay Benaoum continued his winning way in the U14 3km clocking 10:08.
