Athletics NZ is excited to be able to introduce you to our brand new ‘Get, Set, Go at Home’ series.
We know this season has been tough and getting back to the local club has taken some logistical gymnastics. Thank you for all you have done to create a safe and welcoming environment for your athletes and their families.
For the parents and caregivers of our littlest athletes coming back to club may not be possible just yet.
So, to make sure our children can still enjoy some athletics and learn more about movement skills important to life, we have joined forces with Sarah Cowley Ross, a NZ Olympian and everyday mum, to produce an 8-week game-based series for them to enjoy at home.
Every week they will receive via email 3 short (90 sec) videos introducing them to one of the key concepts in the Get, Set, Go programme.
The instructions are included for a game based around this skill and Sarah and her whanau will give a quick demonstration. It’s all designed to be fun and keep families healthy and active as we readjust to a new normal here in NZ.
As a club you will also receive this email and are free to forward it to new or enquiring families as a teaser or use it to help develop your club night programme for that week. All the games and activities will compliment what you are already doing with Get, Set, Go at club level.
If you have any questions contact Fiona Maisey, Young People’s Lead at Athletics NZ, for more information: fiona@athletics.org.nz.
Have fun with this new series. Get, Set, Go at Home with Athletics NZ.
